It Starts Already! What Else Can You Expect from a Fearless, "I can do it myself" Boy!!

Around the end of August we were at the park playing on a nice summer day. Luke decided to be a little adventurous and kept insisting that he could hang from a bar by himself. (It was actually a little lower than the monkey bars, so I didn't think it would end badly!) He decided he had had enough and let go (he tells people he fell). He landed on both feet, but the way he landed caused him to fracture his right foot. So, we experienced our first cast! I have actually been anticipating this day for awhile so I'm glad that we lasted this long! I have a feeling this won't be the last time! He wouldn't walk on it for about the first week. He said it hurt and I think it felt weird to put pressure on it too. I either carried him and his 40 pounds around or he crawled if we were somewhere that wasn't gross! After that first week, he was running and jumping. We were very excited to get that stinky thing off! They asked me if I wanted to keep it--do people do that? I have never broken anything, so I have no experience with broken bones and casts. What would you do with something so stinky??

Ah, yes. Life with boys. My kids point out Children's hospital when we drive by and say, "There's our hospital!" We've been there enough to know. Heck, I've got one with a tooth knocked out of place right now that will have to go back since it hasn't moved back after almost a week.

Buckle in. It's a bumpy ride.

Aww...poor kid. It must be a relief for him (and you) that he finally has it off! Now he can resume being a fearless boy. :)

How sad! Glad that he got it off and is doing well. I cannot believe how grown up Luke is! He is SO cute!
